Glittery shoes: the summer 2013 edition (with Oxfords for the dapper-footed!)
This certainly isn’t my first day stomping down the glittering, campy road of sparkly-ass wedding shoes. Sequins! Rhinestones! Glitter! I’ve been down this path before.
Today, however, it’s not just about sky-high sparkly drag queen shoes. (Although yes, I have included a pair from RuPaul’s shoe line.) Today, in addition to my usual heels and pumps, I’m making a point to include a ton of glittering oxfords and boots for the dapper-footed among us. Because who says the femmes and drag queens should have all the mirror-ball fun?!
Teeny tiny shoes that don’t make you feel like a child
I’ve done posts for mah ladies with the larger feet, but what about y’all on the other end of the spectrum? Folks with feet so teeny-tiny that it’s hard to find grown up shoes in your size? I mean, some of us might LOVE getting married in these rainbow sandals, but not all of us.
So today I’m going to dip my size 9 toe into the world of smaller-sized shoes that still feel like they were meant for a grown-ass woman planning her grown-ass wedding. These are all available in sizes 4-5, and as usual, things tend toward the loud.
Seychelles: wedding shoes you can walk in, dance in, and wear after the fact
It’s been almost exactly a year since I last did a shoe post about Seychelles Shoes, everyone’s favorite solidly-heeled, 40s-styled pumps and sandals. Offbeat Brides love the ankle straps, the walkable heels, and the dance-friendly sturdiness of many of Seychelles styles. Let’s take a look at some of their new styles! I’m including a ton of flats as well, so never ye fear!
TWEE SQUEE: wedding shoes with little hearts
While the Vivienne Westwood Melissa Grey Lady Dragon pumps pictured above might be the most iconic heart-emblazoned wedding shoe, these days I’m seeing a lot of stupid-cute shoes with hearts on them. I remember when I first did a round-up of heart wedding shoes three years ago, it was a challenge. Suddenly, it’s not quite as hard to get literal with your wedding day love-inspired footwear.
Chie Mihara shoes for weddings and drooling
Can we talk about Chie Mihara?! She’s a shoe designer in Spain who crafts insanely stylish but also freakishly comfortable shoes. These shoes are more on the Fluevog level of cost — we’re talking $300 – $400. They’re also on the Fluevog level of quality. As much as we all love our pleather T.U.K.s or Iron Fists, they are not made to last forever. These shoes, however, are life-long investments that you buy for your wedding and wear forever.
Want walkable wedding heels? Try dance shoes!
It’s come up many times in the comments on my shoe posts, and an Offbeat Bride named Theresa emailed me to remind me again: if you want truly comfortable but also kinda fancy looking footwear for your wedding, you may want to try dance shoes. Because if you can dance in them, surely you can walk in them.
