Jennifer and Robert wanted a small ceremony at a favorite spot followed by a small fete with family. It was personal, intimate, and perfectly charming. Plus, we've got the story on how they chose their venue and how they MADE their rings! Here's what Jennifer told us…
We knew we didn't want a traditional or big ceremony. We thought about going to the courthouse, but since we wanted to sign papers the same day as the Kentucky Derby, we knew that the courthouse wouldn't be open. We asked a close friend to be the officiant. We struggled to think of a place to do the signing. One of our earliest and most memorable dates was going to see a band called Black Moth Super Rainbow at Zanzabar. When we tried to think about our first dates or significant places, we thought about that date at Zanzabar.

And the story of their handmade rings:
Our rings are very special to us. We knew we didn't want to spend a ton of money on expensive bands. We both love making and building things ourselves if we can. We wanted to make silver bands, but weren't sure exactly how to go about it. We looked around online and contact a couple of places that advertised jewelry making classes, but eventually we discovered the Metro Arts Center. They held a class on Thursday night, “lost wax casting.” The band Rob used was 3-D printed with a special filament made from wax casting. It means a lot to us to have rings that no one else has. Not to mention that we had the experience of making them together!
