Channamasala’s colorful, multicultural wedding teaser

If you've stuck around Offbeat Bride for a while, you probably recognize Jenna, aka. Tribe member Channamasala. She's written two guest posts, been featured in a Monday Montage and we showed you her wedding tiramasu. Now we're here to give you a little sneak peak into her upcoming bride profile…

usresizeJenna and Brendon live in Taiwan and got married in Poughkeepsie, so their wedding was a fabulous multi-cultural extravaganza! Of course, we already know that her dress is amazing. It was designed by Jenna and made by a tailor in Taiwan using Thai, Chinese and Japanese fabrics, including a vintage obi, and combining Western-Japanese influences.

Jenna explains, “We threw in lots of things that reflected us, without worrying about how they all fit together.” But fit together they totally did! Check it out…

hairresizeJenna also had some freaking fantastic wedding hair going on. The fan in her hair was hand-carved and she made that fabulous necklace to go with her Japanese-inspired dress.

bridesninjasresizeThe bride and the fabulous non-matching bridesmaids carried fans instead of bouquets. Jenna's fan was made by an artisan in Taiwan with bamboo handpainted on one side and her name in Chinese (Bai Lian or “white lotus”) on the other.

our table number cardsFor their table numbers, they used vintage postcards from India and Taiwan, colored glass candleholders, and LED tealights. And each table was named for a tea that they like. They even had a tea bar.

Want more info? Too bad! 😉 You're going to have to wait until we bring you their wedding profile in a few days!

  1. Yay!!! We had our reception here as well- it’s a beautiful spot, and as a history nerd I really loved having our party on a historical estate (I didn’t know that the rental fee went towards their preservation fund- bonus!).

I can’t wait to see the full profile!

  2. This is great. I want to mention that not only did Channamasala have an awesome wedding, she has supplied tons of thoughtful and sensible advice and thoughts through OBT for months and months. Someone give this woman a high-five!

  3. Holy Crap! This is our top contender if we don’t do a destination wedding!!
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!

    • Aww, thanks!

It took me awhile to submit because I’ve been busy with the holidays (still going on: it’s Chinese New Year) so the wait time was entirely my fault.

  4. Channa has been so supportive and helpful and the best thing ever on OBT. So utterly fantastic to see this sneak peek of her fabulous wedding!
