Is there anything more rad than a wedding based on gardens, a love of brunch, and Swamp Thing? This boho meets comic book wedding at Elizabeth Park in Hartford, CT is a surprisingly awesome blend of geek and chic.
A piece was read from Swamp Thing issue #34 in the ceremony, of which pages were also featured in the guest book poster at the reception.
Emily and Casey crafted a lot of the details themselves including the intricate table numbers and beautiful water colored place cards. They're both passionate about environmental justice (bees in particular), so the very intentional choice was made to use local Connecticut honey as the favor. The surprise groom's cake featured other comic characters, The Maxx and Julie Winters. There’s even a geeky pun for their wedding cake, which was topped with Belle from Disney and Beast from X-Men, thus giving you Beauty and the Beast. You have to see this wedding…

Oh my goodness this was perfect! What a beautiful wedding 🙂
Thank you so much for featuring our day, OffbeatBride! We truly had amazing vendors who made our day flow easily and allowed us to experience each moment. It’s pretty unreal to see us on such a popular site (one that I’ve loved for years!). Keep up the weird, you guys are awesome.
I love this! We are going for a geeky, garden vibe, too! 🙂 You mention brunch in the article – was this a brunch wedding or an evening wedding featuring brunch food? We are thinking of doing the latter!
Thanks, Tracy! We had a 11 a.m. ceremony and a 12:00 p.m. brunch reception, it was a fun timeline for us on a Sunday, and allowed everyone to get home in time for dinner. An evening wedding with brunch food sounds really fun, too!
