A multinational French and Chinese fusion wedding at the University of Chicago

At a Glance

Qiyan came to the United States from Beijing, China a few years ago to pursue her PhD. Antoine was born in France and lived there before coming to the U.S. for his PhD. They met, combined their lives, and had a multifaith, multicultural, and multinational wedding in the gorgeously gothic campus of the University of Chicago. Oh, and just wait until you see their adorable turtle cake!

This bride came to the United States from Beijing, China a few years ago to pursue her PhD. The groom was born in France and lived there before coming to the U.S. for his PhD. They met, combined their lives, and had a multifaith, multicultural, and multinational wedding on the gorgeously gothic campus of the University of Chicago.

The bride made her own gown and designed the invitations just three months before the wedding all while also defending her dissertation! Guests flew in from France, China, Australia, and San Francisco, and they live-streamed the ceremony for the bride’s parents, making it a truly international affair. The reception took place at The Smart Museum of Art with a French-infused menu and a sweet lily pad and turtle cake, and we couldn’t be more entranced.

Gorgeous! Love the dress and the invites! (By the way, I hope you won’t mind me stealing the ‘Happily Announcing’ phrase in Chinese; I was having difficulty in finding a 4-worded phrase for my invites.)

Congratulations on completing your doctoral dissertations and on getting married! Double Happiness! (Shuang Xi)
