Our offbeat wedding at a glance:
We’ve always ventured on the darker side and our wedding was no exception. I’ve never worn white in my life and certainly wasn’t going to start on such an important day. From start to finish, we were 100% our authentic selves. Boy, did it feel good.

Tell us about the ceremony:
We had the band Yndi Halda playing as we walked the aisle and Nick met me, my dog, and daughter halfway up the aisle as we entered. I do not have a father figure. Nick is my person, I didn’t need to be given away.

Tell us about your reception:
We had a cocktail reception that happened immediately after our ceremony. We wanted everyone to feel lively so we skipped the big meal and long speeches. Went right into super fun party time!

What was your most important lesson learned?
Be yourself on your wedding day. Don’t try to appease family members to no avail. Be able to look back and know it was for YOU and your happiness. It will be worth it.
