Stacie at Stars for Streetlights came up with a rad way to preserve a little piece of your ceremony site: use some local rocks to craft up a necklace! Or you could use some rocks from a meaningful place and wear it to the wedding itself.
What you'll need to create this necklace:
- Rocks
- Leather or fabric scraps
- Seed beads
- Embroidery thread
- A strong glue like Aleene's 7800 Adhesive
Then you have some gluing, blanket stitching, and a few hours of Firefly reruns to get you through it. I'll let Stacie explain all the details here. The best part of a project like this is that it can totally scale to your time and resources. Small rocks/sea glass/shells = smaller time commitment.

This is totally gorgeous!! I love the idea of the backing.
Don’t forget to make sure it’s ok to take something from the site! Some sites have LTN (Leave No Trace) policies: leave only footprints, take only pictures!
Please please please don’t take rocks or sand (or anything) off the beaches of Hawai’i. This is a holy rule, and we try to abide by it. It’s like carving your name into the ancient walls of Petra. Just don’t do it.
