Etsy seller Redux Vintage has been supplying me with amazing fascinators for years (I even gave one of them to Ariel for her birthday). I've seen the one pictured above in person and it's amazing. I NEED one of you girls to rock this on your wedding day!
This got me thinking: what other alt-wedding headpieces can I find for the fearless bride? Ooh boy did I find some amazing options…
For those looking for MOAR COLOR on their wedding day, here are some awesome choices from Vintage Redux.
Hello Kitty fascinator. Black mesh, black feathers, and Hello-freaking-Kitty: does it get cooler than that?
Anyone going for a beachy look? This ENORMOUS flower from Untamed Petals is too perfect for you.
Amazing fascinator/hat/veil combos like this make me regret not wearing one for my wedding day.
When you want a veil that's not too much, just enough to give you a killer vintage vibe, and a bit of mystery to your... Read more
I love love love me a polka dot flower with a peacock feather accent. What's even better is that this look comes in brown, purple, turquoise, black or fuchsia. So funky, so colorful, so awesome.
I just died from fabulousness from this pale pink mini top hat, with dramatic black feathers and that adorable black lace trim around the brim!
Ooh, feathery goodness over here is so simple, just feathers and a comb clip, but it makes SUCH an impact.
This one looks like an artsy bow. Like something someone lovingly constructed and then put on a pretty wedding gift, except YOU'RE the pretty wedding gift.
Because I know how much y'all love peacock feathers!
This Tarina Tarantino skull fascinator is made of tulle, lucite, and Swarovski Austrian crystals. Perfect for a Dia de los Muertos bride.
There's seriously nothing like this headpiece from Etsy seller Seragun. You can even see it in action at a wedding that I shot.
Here's a more minimalist headpiece from House of Harlow. It's called the Evil Eye headpiece and it's pretty awesome.
This sexy mini top hat and black veil combo is the perfect finishing touch to your burlesque-style wedding outfit you've been working on!
Here's a Tarina Tarantino large white poppy fascinator covered with multi-colored crystals. And here it is looking equally hot, if not a little more bad-ass in black.
These feather fascinators are available in white, black or turquoise, and for a fabulous retro look, wear this beautiful vintage-inspired headpiece with a birdcage veil.
Netted veil, and ivory-and-onyx feathers are dramatical and fantastical and I love it.
Awesome stuff, right? There's an amazing world of offbeat and funky fascinators and headpieces out there. Don't be afraid to peacock it up on your wedding day!

Sigh. I’ve been married almost 6 months now, and posts like this still kill me. WANT EVERYTHING. I’m giving serious consideration to stepping up my daily wardrobe game so I can wear fascinators every damn day and not look overdressed.
I think you’d be surprised what overdazzliness you can get away with on a daily basis, no change needed. Maybe you can’t get away with an 8 in WOW factor on your head every day, but try slipping in an occasional 5.
I love this advice. 🙂
Absolutely! In college, my theatre group was putting on a Shakespeare in the Park type thing, and to promote it we all went around wearing crowns of flowers or ivy, to get people to ask about it. Great plan, but everyone I encountered seemed to think that was normal for me so no one commented. Oh well!
We were eating at a diner after an evening of LARPing. My friend was still dressed up as her character and was wearing a (modest) feather fascinator she had made herself. A woman came up to compliment her on it and ended up buying it off her head!
Love this! Definitely planning on rocking a fascinator! Plus, you could totally have your bridesmaids wear a simplified version 🙂
I love these. Shameless plug here for my friend Tempest of Owl*Key*Me Arts http://www.owlkeyme.com/home.html, who made my fascinator. The majority of her customer base is the bellydance, goth and steampunk communities, but she designs accessories for the mainstream market in her day job, so she can make something for anyone (great prices, unique and original designs). I wish I had a better picture, but the one I’m wearing is what she made for me:

This is exactly what I am doing!!! I wanted to model my wedding some what like my grandmother’s. Simple and with a veil, hat combo just like she had. Thanks!!! This is very helpful!!!
Totally dig wearing fascinators – certainly to weddings and events in the social calendar but also just for fun. We went to stay with friends in the English countryside last weekend and just wore fascinators all day – for fun!!
Another idea is to personalize it. I’m doing a birdcage veil and my mother ordered extra lace that matches my wedding dress. My mom’s going to design my birdcage with some bling and lace so it’s matchy and personal. I’m super excited — and this post helped! Thanks!
I was wondering where the visits were comming from on my website, just learned of “OffBeatBride” Love it!!
