Tom Leung Photography
I did not begin my path in Photography until seven years ago, but I always knew I wanted to do it. Ever since I was a kid, I loved to do creative things like sketching and painting. When I became a little older, I would make abstract art in Photoshop just for fun. My dad was creative as well; he did photography as a hobby throughout my childhood. One day, I found some old vintage Nikon cameras with a 50mm and telephoto lens in a closet. Needless to say, I still play around with them today.
Everyone has their own story about how they got into wedding photography. My passion for wedding photography came on the day of my brother’s wedding. I was the best man and had my camera on me 100% of the day, shooting all candids. This is how I found my journalistic approach to weddings. I had such a great time that I knew right then and there that this was the direction I wanted to pursue in photography. When I’m not shooting weddings, I love street photography. I get my inspiration from all the Magnum photographers. Especially from my favorites: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliot Erwitt and the amazing color palette of Steve McCurry.
Timeless story telling is how I would describe my work. My creative goal is to document and capture real moments that can last years and years of its time. Send me a message, I would love to hear your story.
I am available in Brooklyn, NYC, New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia area. Contact me for more info 🙂
How I cater to offbeat weddings
One of my favorite quotes is, “I have the great privilege of being both witness and storyteller. Intimacy, trust and intuition guide my work.” by Jim Goldberg.
I believe the best images come from the natural moments that happen in real life. My intent is to be as low-key as possible while documenting the reality of a wedding day. I love the laughter, tears, and all the emotions that a wedding day has to offer. It’s my job to preserve these moments. If my images connect with you, please allow me to tell your story.
"If you don't want the cookie cutter photographer, you need to book Tom! I wanted someone that told the story of our day, not all posed pictures (although we did request some and he is up for whatever you want)! Tom captured everything perfectly and we love our photos! We got all the high res images so we could print and do what we wanted with the pics afterwards.
Another key thing that I didn't realize until after the wedding was that I didn't even notice he was around throughout the ceremony and reception! He took a ton of pictures and I didn't even realize it! And one last selling point, Tom is easy to talk to and hang out with. From our first meeting, to our engagement session and the big day, my husband and I felt like we had known him for years. Thanks Tom for making one of our most important wedding vendor decisions so easy, we'll cherish our pictures forever!" -Jessica
