How many people can say they have their dream job? I feel pretty lucky that this statement applies to me. As an extrovert, I get to use my gift of connection to help put my clients at ease in front of my camera. As an artist, I passionately get to document an incredibly important day in the lives of my couples, preserving their story for generations to come. It’s never lost on me how significant and remarkable my work is for others; I’m thankful every day that being a wedding photographer is my calling.

I reside in the Hudson Valley, and spend my time between the Hudson Valley, New York City and the Catskills. I have captured many different types of weddings all over the country, and relish in the diversity I get to experience and document. I am a firm believer in inclusion and enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds, races, gender expressions, sexual orientations and religions. Be who you are – I’m here for it!

One of the things that make me stand out as a wedding vendor is that I donate a portion of my package price to charity. I believe that using a wedding date to pay it forward in even a small way makes a big difference. In 2016 I started the movement Photographers for Orlando in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub shooting; which became a nationwide effort from photographers to support the LGBTQ+ community and the victims of the shooting. In that moment I realized that I could use my skills as a photographer to support larger causes and haven’t looked back since. My clients are invited to support either the ACLU, End the Backlog or the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.

How I cater to offbeat weddings

    • I’ve been a vegetarian since 2005!

    • I am an ally to the BIPOC community and a member of the LGBTQ+
    • I respect pronouns (mine are she/her) and have utilized gender neutral contracts for years.
    • I’m a mom to two little girls, and photographed weddings through each of my pregnancies.

    • In January of 2021, I set up a black and white darkroom in my home and try to shoot a roll of black and white film for fun at every wedding.

    • I entered this world on Friday the 13th and love all things spooky.

    • If you know anything about personality types, I’m an ENFP-T (aka the campaigner) and it is incredibly accurate.

    • Over the years, I’ve photographed rescue dogs to help get them adopted.

    • I currently have forty house plants. My favorites are my monstera, my burro’s-tail, and my yucca cane.

    • I’m really proud that my photos have been published in a handful of places, most notably the New York Times on a few occasions.

    • Phonetically, my last name is SAL – VAGUE – IN. Ellis Island did a number on the original Italian version. Don’t worry, no one gets it right.

    • And finally, I listen to true crime podcasts while I edit. If the letters “SSDGM” mean anything to you, we will get along very well.
