This philanthropic pair made sure that everyone from their esteemed colleagues to their artistic and genealogically-inclined friends had something awesome to do besides dancing at their reception. Add that to their spectacular venue and vintage Caddy ambulance getaway car, and you’ll be in love. Oh, and get your hankies for the father/daughter dance photo!
Ashley & Jake’s steampunk adventure trolley wedding
There are a few ways to avoid a bunch of time-consuming group portraits, but this one is one of our favorites. These two rented an open air brass-railed trolley for a perfectly suited steampunk backdrop for their photo shoot! Add that to the bride’s handmade reception gown, amazing steamy costumes, and a gamer-themed musical at the reception, and you’ll be totally transported. Oh, and wait until you see who ended up wearing a white wedding gown. Hint: it wasn’t the bride!
A zoo wedding with handmade international details
Jennifer and Abdoulaye are truly an international couple: she hails from the States and he’s from Guinea, and they met while working in Mali. A coup d’état in the country led to Jennifer moving back home, and their relationship blossomed thanks to Skype and long-distance phone calls. Once reunited in the US they quickly eloped, and hosted a wedding a few months later at the Virginia Zoo.

Hula hoops, foosball, and roller skates… oh my! This is one game-happy Halloween wedding. Add in the chic lollipop bouquet, the sequined shoes, and the bedazzled pumpkins, and it’s a pretty gorgeous wedding, too. Plus, you’ll never guess who convinced the couple to embrace the Halloween theme.

Put on your goggles and your neo-Victorian gear, because this is STEAMPUNK WEEK! Today we’ve got a burner-meets-upcycled-meets-kid-friendly celebration including fire dancing, a community-planned potluck, and a sweet ceremony interruption by the couple’s little girl. It’s laid-back and free-form and we’re loving it!
