A magical and bookish Harry Potter wedding with a golden snitch cake
I may be biased, but I do so love a Harry Potter wedding. Allyson and Casey had some awesome details for it: book pages wrapped around candles, tables named after places in the novels, the Sorting Hat, and even a SNITCH CAKE!
Kendall & Alex’s Portillo’s-fueled crafty wedding
After rejecting expensive catering, these two opted for a Chicago fave: Portillo’s! That plus awesome cupcakes, a cool non-cheesy DJ, and tons of origami flowers, and you have this sweet offbeat lite Midwestern wedding. We also learned from the bride that it’s okay to forget your lines in the ceremony.
‘Stina & Graham’s DIY country ranch wedding
This pair tackled tons of DIY projects, battled some very inconsistent weather, and had to cater a party in the middle of the country. But you’d never know these were even challenges when you see the awesome Mexican catering, the cool ambiance (event producer groom FTW!), and the lovely weather. These photos give off one theme more than any other: FUN.
Toni & Mark’s Civil War costumed picnic wedding
With a love for Civil War reenactment, it was no surprise that this couple and their friends were totally down for a period costume picnic. Add in tons of help from those friends and family with a potluck pulled pork feast, and you’ve got a community-supported party in the making. You’ll also want to hear the story of the groom saving the bride from a rogue box fan.
Charlotte & Jason’s organic farm Sufi wedding
Jason and Charlotte met at school and fell in love over juggling, Sufi singing, and night walks. I love these people already. With lots of crafty touches (including a nettle felted portrait!), tea favors, and a milk and honey ceremony, this wedding has soothing and peaceful written all over it.
Andie & Laurie’s Vaudevillian queer love extravaganza wedding
This performance-based costume wedding had two men of honor, a best lady, a wedding admiral, a ring master, a banjoist and baladeer, a celebrity Lutheran pastor, a Drag Queen Mistress of Ceremonies (who performed a Barbie rendition of Steel Magnolias), and a Dolly Parton flash mob dance (animated for your pleasure). There’s lot of eye candy and some insightful philosophizing too.
