Behold these bridesmaids in white dresses
An Offbeat Bride reader emailed us about her idea to wear a colored wedding dress while her bridesmaids don white ones. She also expressed her exasperation when it came to finding photos of other brides who have pulled off this fabulous color switcharoo. So, I thought I’d round up a few of our favorite examples from offbeat weddings past that just might have you re-thinking your wedding dress colors.
How to snag amazing vintage bridesmaid dresses
I outfitted my three bridesmaids in vintage dresses. My motivation was twofold: I love vintage styling, and I try to live by a reduce-reuse-recycle ethos. I loved how it all worked out. If you are thinking of going with vintage dresses, or are in the throes of things already, here are some tips for you.
Non-matching bridesmaid dresses
“I am thinking of asking my three brideswomen to just pick a dress they like (maybe within a colour scheme…?) I don’t think they have to be matching because they are all uniquely beautiful and hopefully will feel more comfortable in something that they have picked out themselves. Have you got any pics of non-matching brideswomens’ dresses?”
Who pays for bridesmaids’ dresses?
I’ve told my bridesmaids that they can wear any black dress of their choosing. Since I’m not requiring them to buy an actual bridesmaid’s dress (ick), should I offer to pay a sort of stipend for a new dress that they will probably buy for the wedding anyway?
