Lauren & Joshua’s rainy potluck wedding
This pair trekked north to New Hampshire to celebrate with far-flung family, but also to spend their wedding dollars on a state and vendors that support marriage equality. Plus, it’s just damn pretty there! And when a rainy ceremony or guest list drama comes creeping in, this bride knows how to handle it: channel the bad-ass honey badger.
Ruth & Andrew’s spiritually eclectic museum wedding
This bride got a little perspective and went from “Super Special Shocking Spectacular” to real-life, community-driven, awesome wedding. With a shmancy museum backdrop, a handfasting, and a ring warming (with a time-saving twist), meaning and tears were not hard to come by. And give me a few non-matchy matchy bridesmaids’ dresses with pockets any day.
Navy suit, gingham shirt, slim tie, and vans: advice for grooms on how to find their style
Ok, so I guess today we’re just all about fashion. That’s ok, right? Especially when it involves the amazing fashion of groom Anthony Barlich, one of the founders of Chicago’s Hitch & Sparrow. Anthony rocked a navy suit, silver tie, and gingham shirt, with striped socks and grey Vans. (Topped off by Warby Parker glasses.) Darren from Well Groomed recently did a two–part post series interviewing Anthony about his fashion and guidance for grooms looking to find their own vision in a sea of anonymous suits.
Ellen & Paul’s summer camp peacock handfasting
Rising from the depths of the lake at summer camp, it’s…. the most adorable crocheted Cthulhu bride and groom cake toppers — the little bride Cthulhu with her peek of peacock dress and the little groom Cthulhu in his kilt and beard. This wedding embraced the gentle nods to weird and sweet personal touches, but shining smiles and hearty laughs win the day.
