When an intimate forest ceremony becomes a Renaissance-inspired dance party reception, it’s been a good day. The bride handmade books as favors, had tiny terrariums as centerpieces, and they served pumpkin pie, too. So far so good. But the addition of a cardboard deer head is the icing on the cake.

Vanessa & Jason’s Chinese martial arts New Mexican wedding
This pair went all-out on traditions by including lots of lovely moments from their cultures and interests. This included a tea ceremony, martial arts performances, a lion dance, an anniversary dance, and Spanish serenades. It would have been amazing to attend and see all of these carefully crafted elements come together to form this elaborate party. Plus the bride had three dresses, which is AWESOME!

When potential guests start a-bickerin’ about the wedding, sometimes it means it’s time to make a quick getaway and elope to Hawaii. And that’s exactly what these two did. They grabbed a friend and a photographer and spent their ceremony basking in the ocean breezes of Waikiki Beach. And voila: built-in honeymoon.
