A water-themed polyamorous elopement at a lakeside bungalow
hen I set out to marry my boyfriend Tom, I’d already been married for nine years to my husband Dan. This would be Tom’s first wedding, so I didn’t really want to just run off and elope, but he was cool with it, so away we went. I didn’t want a big poofy white dress, since I’d done that previously, and I wanted to be able to enjoy my time with my new guy, so no fuss was my general goal. Lovingly low-key/easy elopement was our theme. We just wanted a fabulous day where we could celebrate together in a fun city.
We chose the date and location almost by default because Ben was scheduled to be there for training the week before, and had paid time off scheduled the week of Thanksgiving. We eloped for a number of reasons, but mainly because we did not want the meaning of the day to get lost in the shuffle of a big shindig.
Get ready for this Gothic Midsummer Night’s Dream wedding in a forest
If I had to put a label on it, I would call our wedding a "Gothic Midsummer Night's Dream." We made sure to include a ton of natural and rustic elements like crystals, logs, animal bones, and balanced those raw materials with dark elegant pieces to get that "we just magically threw together a fancy party in the woods" vibe.
